Law Day 2014

On May 1 the United States celebrates Law Day, U.S.A.. It is meant to reflect on the role of law in the foundation of the country and to recognize its importance for society.

As we approach the 50th anniversaries of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the 2014 Law Day theme, American Democracy and the Rule of Law: Why Every Vote Matters, calls on every American to reflect on the importance of a citizen’s right to vote and the challenges we still face in ensuring that all Americans have the opportunity to participate in our democracy.

The Arkansas Bar Association celebrates Law Day 2014 by sponsoring a Student Video Contest.  Students are encouraged to submit a two-minute or less video that encompasses this year's theme.  The Grand Prize winner will have a choice between an iPad Mini or a $300 Amazon gift card.

Contest entries must be received by 11:30pm (CST) on April 24, 2014.
